ECDL CORE
Candidate Rule for ECDL Core certification
The candidate must purchase the Skills Card (valid 3 years from the date of issue) and pay for the exam attempts an Authorized Test Center.
In a given session, candidates can book one or more modules of their choice required for obtaining the ECDL Certificate. Candidates may book a maximum of 4 modules per session. Examinations can be taken in any order, in one or more sessions, at the sole discretion of the Candidate.
The Candidate must go to the exam equipped with its own Skills Card and a valid personal identification document (ID card, driving license and passport). Where provided, the candidate must also present the documentation of payments.
The exams are seven; one theoretical and the remaining are practical. The actual ability of the candidate is determined by testing:
– using closed questions (especially for module 1, "Basic Concepts of Information Technology", theoretical test);
– through the actual performance of duties. These are questions that involve the performance of tasks, simulating the In Application Scene software (typically for the modules 2 to 7, practical test).
In the first case, the candidate must choose the answer from a list of alternatives and the system checks if the choice is correct (multiple choice test). In the second case, however, candidates are required to perform the tasks and the system checks if they were correctly performed (test by simulation).
The examination sessions are managed by an Automated System, which on the basis of the subscriptions received and records kept by the Test Center, provides each candidate with the exams to be done. The time given for each test is 45 minutes. After this time, the automatic system for the management of the examination session, stops automatically the test of the candidate. The candidate after having taken the exam, immediately after the exam session knows the outcome of the test.
To successfully pass the test, the candidate must correctly answer 75% of applications for the individual test.
The candidate has the right to ask the examiner of a printed copy of the test which is immediately produced by the Automated System. All examination session data are recorded in the database of the Automated System.
By passing the 7 modules, the candidates are entitled to the ECDL Certificate.
Demo and Mock Tests
Demo and/or automated mock testing are available in ECDL Authorised Test Centres to candidates that have registered for the ECDL tests.
Candidates are encouraged to work through this testing software before sitting for the actual test.
ECDL ADVANCED
ECDL Advanced Certification
Applicants must purchase a Skills Card for each module. In each Skills Card will be recorded the relative passed exam. The Advanced level’s Skills Card is valid one year from the date of issue (and not 3 years, like the ECDL Core). The candidate must enroll and take the exam on the dates provided by the Test Center. Diplomas, produced by ECDL Albania, may be withdrawn at Authorized Test.
Each module or test is marked by the symbol AM and a number. Each module is independent from the others. The maximum time available to the candidate for each test is 60 minutes. The minimum to pass the test examination is 75% of correct answers. Each module consists of 20 questions. It is possible to take a maximum of 4 modules per session.
The ECDL Core is not a prerequisite for obtaining the ECDL Advanced Certificate. All ECDL Advanced Certificates can be obtained independently from the ECDL Core.
Advanced Examination rules
For each advanced module, the candidate must buy by an accredited Test Center, the Skills Card (valid for 1 year from issue) and the exam attempt. Candidates pay the amount of the test at the Test Center where the Skills Card is purchased and at the same time where exams take place.

The maximum number of modules sustainable in a session depends on the duration of the session: by our Test Center candidates can take a maximum of 4 tests for each session. It is also possible to take the exams at any accredited Test Center, at the discretion of the candidate.
The candidate must go to the exam equipped with its own Skills Card and a valid personal identification document (identity card, driving license and passport). In the cases referred, the candidate must also present documentation related to payments.
