ECDL Core


The ECDL Core is the cornerstone of the ECDL Programme.
 The EDCL Core certifies that the holder possesses the basic knowledge and skills in using H/PC and is able to use the computer's main office automation applications as well as basic Internet services. To gain the ECDL Core, candidates must successfully complete all seven (7) tests that make up the certification, which include:

1. Concepts of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
This module allows candidates to understand the main concepts of ICT at a general level and know different parts of a computer.

2. Using the Computer and Managing Files.
This module allows candidates to demonstrate competence in running and managing a personal computer.

3. Word Processing.
This module allows candidates to demonstrate their ability in using a word processing application while accomplishing every tasks associated with creating, formatting, as well as finishing small-sized word processing documents, such as letters and other simple documents.

4. Spreadsheets 
This module allows candidates to demostrate their ability in using a spreadsheet and producing accurate work outputs.

5. Using Databases 
This module allows candidates to demonstrate their understanding of using a database.

6. Presentation
This module allows candidates to demonstrate competence in using presentation software

7. Web Browsing and Communication
The first section, Web Browsing, requires candidates to demonstrate the understanding of concepts and terms associated with using the Internet and online security considerations. In the second section, Communication, candidates will demonstrate the ability to use email software to send and receive messages, and attaching files to mail messages.
